Pre and Post Natal

Being pregnant is a very exciting but also daunting concept for most women; a time where you become very aware of your body, of what you put into it and of what you do with it!
Just because you’re pregnant however it doesn’t mean you have to stop keeping fit. In fact, it’s proven that exercising whilst pregnant is beneficial not only for mum but for baby too! Benefits for mum include reduced weight gain, increased mood and confidence and possibly even reduced pain and less need for induction or intervention during labour.
It’s true that there are significant physiological changes that take place within your body as soon as you become pregnant, so any exercise programme you follow should focus on maintaining your current levels of fitness, not improving them, and primarily ensuring your body is prepared to counteract the postural imbalances that will occur as your baby grows; this in turn will help you to avoid injury and get back to fitness more easily after the birth.
Here at CKLife we can work with you during this special time, and in addition to providing our high standards of motivation we can also advise you as to; when you shouldn’t exercise or when you should take caution; what exercises it’s safe/effective to perform; what you need to do prior to/after exercise; and of what exciting changes you can expect trimester by trimester.

Post-Natal Training

Understandably, most new mums want to get back to their pre-pregnancy shape quickly after birth. It’s really important however to set yourself realistic and progressive goals. In reality it will take nine months to 1 year to return to your pre pregnancy state, but you can indeed start making a difference right away!
Training post-nataly has many benefits for mum including; increased fat-loss; increased energy and mood; increased self-confidence; and improved posture.
Here at CKLife we can show you how to return to fitness for good. We will work with you to increase your metabolism for fat loss, stabilise the core muscles which have been stretched and deactivated during your pregnancy, and correct / maintain good posture. We will also work with you to lengthen tight muscles and strengthen weak muscles as a result of postural imbalances that have been created by your pregnancy.
We’ll also advise you as to; when you shouldn’t exercise or when you should take caution; what exercises it’s safe/effective to perform; what you need to do prior to/after exercise; and of what you need to be careful of during exercise.
If you plan to adopt an exercise programme during or soon after pregnancy, please follow the advice of a qualified expert.
